Dances of Cariño is a dance-theatre work on the paradigm of caring. Cariño—love, affection, tenderness, endearment—explores in movement, text, music, and visual art, the psycho-physical, cultural, and global dimensions of caring. The strong, sensual physicality of the ABD ensemble, blends with the complex, compelling music of Ajayi Jackson; the impassioned tones and lyrics of Mexican-American musician Mama Coatl; the entrancing poetry of Judy Grahn; and the vibrant art of muralist Nadine Gay.
