Dances of Cariño excerpt

Dances of Cariño is a dance-theatre work on the paradigm of caring. Cariño love, affection, tenderness, endearment explores in movement, text, music, and visual art, the psycho-physical, cultural, and global dimensions of caring. The strong, sensual physicality of the ABD ensemble, blends with the complex, compelling music of Ajayi Jackson; the impassioned tones and lyrics of Mexican-American musician Mama Coatl; the entrancing poetry of Judy Grahn; and the vibrant art of muralist Nadine Gay.

Judy Grahn and Anne Carol at Dance Mission Theater

"the woman whose head is on fire", from She Who (1972); to be published by Red Hen Press in Judy's new collection "love belongs to those who do the feeling".

Judy Grahn teaches with Anne Bluethenthal in Creative Inquiry MA/MFA at New College of California; she performs with singer-songwriter Anne Carol. For bookings contact her at jgrahn@Serpentina.com.
